As Secretary of the CalEPA, Terry devised the Hydrogen Highway program to accelerate the commercialization of an important technology that could one day replace our oil addiction — hydrogen. On Earth Day 2004, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed Executive Order S-07-04 which initiated the California Hydrogen Highway Network (CaH2Net). The mission of the CaH2Net is to support and catalyze a rapid transition to a clean, hydrogen transportation economy in California in order to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve our air quality, and grow the California economy.

Terry continues to spread the word and lead by example by driving a Honda FCX (fuel cell vehicle), which emits only clean water vapor.

Honda and Hydrogen

Terry was one of the first to drive and lease one of Honda's Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles. Check out the event where Honda presented Terry with the key:

Honda's FCX Clarity - Jay Leno's Garage

Jay Leno interviewed Honda's PR Manager, Sage Marie, at "Jay Leno's Garage" in Burbank. Jay also drove the FCX Clarity in Burbank and included his first ever stop on the California Hydrogen Highway (City of Burbank's Hydrogen Station).
